Extraction in Painters Hill

A simple extraction removes a tooth that is fully visible above the gumline and can be lifted out without surgical incisions. At Boulder Rock Dental, this is the extraction we offer, and for many Painters Hill patients it is the most direct way to deal with a tooth that can no longer be saved. Our office is in Palm Coast, and we regularly see patients from Painters Hill, Flagler Beach, Beverly Beach, and the surrounding area for everything from routine cleanings to emergency visits.
A simple extraction applies when the tooth has erupted and its crown is accessible, so the dentist can loosen it and remove it with standard instruments. Because the gum tissue does not need to be opened and bone does not need to be reshaped, the procedure is typically shorter and more straightforward than surgical removal. Dr. Thinh Tran and Dr. Jake Ryan begin with an exam to confirm that a tooth fits this description before recommending removal.
Not every problem tooth is a candidate, and we will tell you plainly if yours is not. Our goal is to keep natural teeth whenever possible. We also offer fillings, crowns, root canal therapy for front teeth, and gum disease treatment, so extraction is one option we weigh alongside others rather than a default.
Simple extractions can make sense in a range of situations. A tooth may be too badly decayed or broken to restore. It may be loose because of advanced gum disease. Sometimes a tooth needs to come out to make room as part of an orthodontic plan, or a child's baby tooth has not fallen out on its own. Because we see patients of all ages, from children to seniors, we evaluate each case with the patient's age and overall dental health in mind.
Removing a compromised tooth can offer clear benefits:
- Relief from pain caused by a damaged or infected tooth
- Removal of a source of infection that could affect nearby teeth and gums
- Space for orthodontic treatment, including clear aligners
- A clean starting point for a bridge, denture, or dental implant
If a tooth suddenly starts hurting or breaks, call us. We offer emergency dental appointments, which can save Painters Hill residents from waiting days for care.
What Happens During Your Visit
Your appointment starts with an exam, and when needed, we use our diagnostic tools to see the tooth's condition and root position. We explain what we found, why removal is recommended, and what your replacement options would be afterward. You will know the plan before anything begins, and you are welcome to ask questions at any point.
Next, we numb the area thoroughly. Comfort is a priority for our team, and we check that you are numb before proceeding. The dentist then gently loosens the tooth and removes it. You may feel pressure, but you should not feel sharp pain. Afterward, we place gauze over the site to help a blood clot form, and we go over your aftercare instructions before you head home.
Healing and Aftercare
The first day matters most. Keep the gauze in place as directed, rest, and avoid spitting forcefully, using straws, or smoking. Those actions can disturb the blood clot that protects the socket while it heals. Stick to soft foods and chew on the opposite side of your mouth for a few days.
Keep brushing your other teeth gently, and be careful around the extraction site. We will give you specific guidance for your situation, including how to manage discomfort. If you notice anything that concerns you while healing, call our office and we will advise you on next steps. We can also talk about replacing the missing tooth. We offer bridges, complete and partial dentures, and dental implants, so you can plan your next step with the same team.
Insurance, Financing, and Membership Plans
We accept all major PPO insurance plans and file claims for you. If you do not have insurance, we welcome self-pay patients. We can also help you understand your costs before treatment so there are no surprises.
To spread out costs, we offer financing through CareCredit, iCreditWorks, and Sunbit. Our in-house dental membership plans are another option, at $189 or $240 per year, with a $109 annual plan for veterans. If you live in Painters Hill and need a tooth evaluated or removed, contact Boulder Rock Dental to schedule a visit with Dr. Tran or Dr. Ryan.
