A throbbing toothache that won't let you sleep, a molar that cracked on something hard, or a crown that popped off right before a big weekend can leave you wondering who to call and how quickly you can be seen. At Boulder Rock Dental, we set aside time for same-day emergency appointments so you don't have to wait out dental pain or guess what's happening in your mouth. Our dentists, Dr. Thinh Tran and Dr. Jake Ryan, see patients of all ages, from children to seniors, and you don't need a referral to come in.
Emergency dentistry is urgent dental care for problems that shouldn't wait for a routine checkup. That includes pain, damage, or sudden changes that affect your comfort, your ability to eat, or the health of a tooth. Our goal at an emergency visit is to find the source of the problem, ease your discomfort, and protect the tooth and the surrounding tissue so a small issue doesn't become a larger one.
Because our office covers general, restorative, endodontic, periodontal, and prosthodontic care, we can often handle the next step under one roof rather than sending you elsewhere. Families from Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, Beverly Beach, and Painters Hill rely on us for these situations. Here are some of the most common:
- A severe or lingering toothache
- A cracked, chipped, or broken tooth
- A lost or loose filling or crown
- A previously treated tooth that has become painful again
- A broken or damaged denture
- A tooth that may need to be removed
When you arrive, we start by listening. Tell us when the problem started, what makes it better or worse, and anything you've already tried. Then we perform a focused dental exam of the area, using our cavity detection tools and modern technology to understand what's going on beneath the surface. Once we know the cause, we explain what we found in plain language and walk you through your options before any treatment begins.
Sometimes we can resolve the issue at that same visit. Other times, we stabilize the tooth and relieve your pain first, then schedule follow-up care at a time that works for you. Either way, you leave knowing what's happening and what comes next. If your child is the one in pain, parents are welcome to stay in the treatment room, which can make an unexpected visit far less stressful for younger patients.
Treatments We May Recommend
The right treatment depends on what's causing the emergency. Deep decay or infection inside a tooth may call for root canal therapy. If a tooth that already had a root canal is hurting again, we also perform root canal retreatments. Cracked teeth are another problem we treat regularly, and depending on the size and location of the crack, a dental filling, composite bonding, or a crown may help restore strength and appearance.
When a tooth can't be saved, a simple extraction may be the most comfortable path forward. We can then talk with you about replacement options, such as a bridge, a dental implant, or a partial denture, whenever you're ready. If a denture breaks, we repair or replace existing dentures, so you're not left without your teeth for longer than necessary.
Aftercare and Healing
After emergency treatment, we give you clear instructions tailored to what we did. That may include guidance on eating, managing tenderness, keeping the area clean, and what to watch for as you heal. If anything feels off or you have questions once you're home, we want you to call us rather than wait and wonder.
Many dental emergencies trace back to issues that develop quietly over time, like decay or gum disease. Once your immediate concern is handled, we encourage you to keep up with regular dental cleanings and exams. Our hygienist and dentists can spot early warning signs and help lower the chances of another urgent visit down the road.
Payment and Financing
An unexpected dental problem shouldn't come with unexpected financial stress. We accept all major PPO insurance plans and welcome self-pay patients. For larger treatment needs, we offer financing through CareCredit, iCreditWorks, and Sunbit, which can help you spread costs over time.
If you don't have dental insurance, our in-house membership plans are another option, with annual plans at $189 and $240, and a $109 plan for veterans. Our team will gladly review your coverage and options with you so you can make a confident decision.
If you're hurting right now, or something just doesn't feel right with a tooth, please reach out to Boulder Rock Dental. We'll do our best to see you quickly, help you get comfortable, and guide you through every step toward a healthy, pain-free smile.
